142 Glenferrie Road Facade Strengthening & Restoration

Initial construction works were to strengthen the existing brickwork facade by installing support steel and making good the existing rendered facade.  To complete this work a lightweight fixed scaffold was erected off the existing canopy after engineering approval.  This relatively simple task was made difficult due to the proximity of the existing tramways overhead cabling which required complete out of hours shutdown of all tramways power to erect the scaffold.

On commencement of the the works the client decided to restore the existing facade as close as possible to its original look.  After completion of the internal support steel and with the use of only an existing photo, we managed to replicate the

original facade by extending the existing parapet brickwork and adding back the original render.
